Our Services
We specialize in understanding how the brain processes and interprets sound. Our wide range of services reflects our commitment to addressing the diverese needs of individuals, utilizing various approaches to support optimal auditory health and communication.
Diagnostic Hearing Tests
We assess children and adults.
Hearing loss happens at all ages. Not just with aging. Hearing loss is one of the main building blocks in a child’s development. Did you know that 8-12% of school age children have a permanent hearing loss.
If you have had your hearing test and you’re told it was “normal” and you still struggle, you may have a functional hearing loss. An assessment at Ears for Life will differ from most hearing assessments and investigate your concerns in a more comprehensive manner.
Tinnitus Assessment
Tinnitus can be described as a buzzing, hissing, and ringing sound that you hear in your ears or head that no one else can hear.
Tinnitus can be intermittent or constant. Many individuals live with constant tinnitus for many years without any issues. However, some others are negatively impacted.
Decreased Sound Tolerance Assessment
Decreased sound tolerance can be described as an individual’s reduced ability to tolerate loud sounds or specific sounds that others do not find annoying. This may lead to heightened sensitivity and/or emotional reactions to sound.
-
Hyperacusis is described as a negative reaction to sounds others do not find bothersome.
-
Misophonia is described as a negative reaction to specific sounds or to sounds in particular surroundings or situations.
Auditory Processing Assessment
Auditory processing is what we do with what we hear. Hearing assessments may be “normal” but the individual is not still “understanding”. A few possible signs of an auditory processing weakness are difficulty understanding in noise, inattentiveness, difficulty with spelling, reading and writing.
It can affect children and adults.
